BernCo Paid Leave Ordinance
The Greater Albuquerque Medical Association is hosting the August Policy Forum. The meeting will be at The Doctors Company at 7770 Jefferson St NE #410.
In May, the Bernalillo County Commission introduced an ordinance mandating employers to provide sick leave to employees. At the June 26th, Bernalillo County Commission meeting the Commission deferred a vote on the paid sick leave proposal so that the public had time to study a newly introduced substitute version.
Under the new proposal employers with two or more employees would have to provide all workers — including full-time, part-time, seasonal and temporary workers — at least one hour of paid leave for every 32 hours worked, up to a maximum of 56 hours per year.
The proposed ordinance affects the association community, as well as each individual association's members. NMSAE is providing a policy forum for association and government affairs professionals to learn more about the ordinance, discuss potential impacts to their members, and share information about the status and timeline of the proposed ordinance.
