Estate planning is about more than deciding who receives your assets. A thoughtful estate plan can help protect your family, communicate your wishes, prepare for incapacity, and reduce uncertainty during difficult moments.

Join NMSAE for Estate Planning: Wills vs. Trusts, the second program in the NMSAE Financial Foundations Series. Curtis Vernon of Lighthouse Wills & Trusts will explain the role of wills and trusts and help participants better understand how these tools may fit into a broader estate plan.

During this 60-minute, in-person session, participants will learn about the key differences between wills and trusts, the purposes each may serve, and the factors individuals and families should consider when deciding which approach may be appropriate for their circumstances. The session will also help participants identify important estate-planning questions to discuss with their legal and financial professionals.

Developed with association executives in mind, the program is also open to association staff, affiliate members, vendors, government affairs professionals, and other members of the NMSAE community. The topics covered are broadly applicable to professionals at every stage of their careers.

This session may be attended individually or as part of the three-part NMSAE Financial Foundations Series, which begins with financial planning and concludes with a program on current tax-planning strategies.

The series brings together professionals in financial planning, estate planning, and tax strategy to provide accessible, coordinated guidance on issues that affect participants and their families.
